Republic - June 5, 2009 - Some very important
historical documents including original paintings of famous Philippine Juan Luna
were found in Ceske Budejovice Museum vault in Czech Republic. Discoveries will
be exhibited during the 4th European Regional Assembly of the Knights of Rizal
in September, 2009. Four
boxes of uncataloged artifacts of Ferdinand Blumentritt, close confidant and adviser
of Jose Rizal, the National Hero of the Philippines were found hidden and protected
during the Communist era are believed to shed historical facts that are not yet
known in the history mostly between the relationship of Rizal and Blumentritt.
Blumentritt was among the foremost experts on the Philippines of his day. Their
friendship eventually led Spain to leave its occupancy in the Philippines for
over 350 years. Among those that were found are personal letters
of Rizal to Blumentritt including many of the publications made by him that were
personally sent to Blumentritt. A copy of Noli Me Tangere book, a powerful novel
that stirred the minds of many intellectuals during the end of the 19th century
was also found. The extend of the historical facts of the discovery
is not yet known, but Magister Helena Stejskalová, Curator of Ceske-Budejovice
Museum said that an extensive research work is being done and most should be ready
for the first time during the private exhibition on September 17, 2009 to highlight
the start of the 4th European Regional Assembly of the Knights of Rizal. The
exhibition will be held at the famed Clam Gallas Palace, a purely Viennese Baroque
architecture projected by the imperial court architect in 1713 which was formerly
used by Mozart, Beethoven and Franz Kafka. The place fitted to signify the importance
of the occasion. Some 200 Knights and Ladies from all
over world are expected to the Assembly. The confirmed presence of Organizations'

Europe, USA and Canada, with Philippine Presidential adviser Professor Lapuz,
and with high ranking international dignitaries who are members of the organization,
this Assembly will be remembered in history, Noubikko said. Noubikko is the Knights
of Rizal Deputy Commander for Czech Republic and Organizing Committee chairman.
A
massive preparation for the Assembly is already being organized, including Czech
entertainers who are being rehearsed to sing Philippine songs and the reservation
of Sumava Boat, the biggest floating boat along the Vltava River among others.
Pearls which symbolizes the beauty of the Philippines are also being sought to
be flown from the Philippines for giveaway souvenirs for attendees.
Dubbed as the 4th ERA, The 4th European Regional Assembly is a 4-day event fostering
a theme: Keeping Alive the Friendship of Rizal and Blumentritt in the Future.
It will be held in Prague and Litomerice, Czech Republic on September 18 and 19,
2009 with Welcome Party on September 17 and Blessing at the Infant Jesus of Prague
Shrine on September 20. The organizing committee hope that
these historical discovery of priceless documents is a showcase of great appreciation
of the friendship between Rizal and Blumentritt. They also hope to further a greater
relationship between Czech Republic and the Philippines which for years they have
enjoyed since the time of Rizal.
