HISTORICAL
DOCUMENTS FOUND 20 YEARS AFTER COMMUNISM
IN CZECH REPUBLIC

Prague, Czech Republic - June 5, 2009 - Four boxes of uncataloged documents
of Rizal and Ferdinand Blumentritt, close confidant of Jose Rizal, were found
hidden and protected during the Communist era. They are believed to shed more
historical facts about the Philippines and about their relationship which eventually
led the Spanish occupancy to leave after 350 years stay in the Philippines.
Others
that were found were personal letters of Rizal to Blumentritt including many manuscripts
that were personally sent to Blumentritt. Numerous paintings of
famous Philippine artist Juan Luna were also found.
The extend
of the historical discovery is not yet known, but Magister Helena Stejskalová,
Curator of Ceske-Budejovice Museum said that an extensive research work is being
done and should be ready for exhibit in a private exhibition on September 17,
2009 to highlight the start of the 4th European Regional Assembly of the Knights
of Rizal.
Many Knights of Rizal and Ladies from all over world
are expected to come to attend this Assembly. Massive preparation is being arranged
including the reservation of Sumava Boat, the biggest floating boat along the
Vltava River. Pearls which symbolizes the beauty of the Philippines are also being
flown from the Philippines for giveaway souvenirs for attendees.
Exhibition
will be held at the famed Clam Gallas Palace, a 1713 Baroque architecture projected
by the imperial court which was formerly used by Mozart, Beethoven and Franz Kafka.
"We hope that these discovery further a greater relationship
between Czech Republic and the Philippines which for years we have enjoyed since
the time of Rizal and Blumentritt" said by the Organizing Committee chairman,Noubikko.
Dubbed
as the 4th ERA, The 4th Europe an Regional Assembly is a 4-day event fostering
a theme: Keeping Alive the Friendship of Rizal and Blumentritt in the Future.
It will be held in Prague and Litomerice, Czech Republic on September 18 and 19,
2009 with Welcome Party on September 17 and Blessing at the Infant Jesus of Prague
Shrine on September 20.
